About

AAAC is a creative duo composed of Alessio Casalini and Alexey Artemov. Both multi-instrumentalists, composers, producers and sound engineers based in New York. A natural extension of a group Bark established back in 2015 the duo is taking their cinematic sound further into the world of soundtracks, dance, theater and commercial work.

Alessio Casalini

Alessio Casalini is an Italian guitar player, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and sound engineer based in New York. Founding member of the alternative band BARK (US), solo artist and producer for a number of projects including Amy VachalBorni and Kurs Valut among others.

Debut solo EP “Working Title” is a collection of compositions for guitar featuring samplers, analogue tape delays, dynamic filters, reverb tanks, electro-acoustic sounds and strings. Each track is a picture, a reflection on a specific place, memory andmoment. The common theme is the contrast between darkness and light – an element of tension which is present in the lightest of moods.

“Clouds over the Mekong”, as the title suggests is a continuation of the same concept. It’s a composition for 2 classical guitars. A live performance is sampled and re-arranged using a two-channel tape machine providing a dynamic and structural framework, while the string section and bass add depth and weight. The slightly “out of tune” effect is the result of warped tapemanipulated by hand.

“Pyramids” is an extreme approach to a composition for 2 guitars. The idea comes from the visualization of underground corridors, brutalist architecture and geometric figures. The performance is processed and dissected using loopers and granular synthesis preserving a clear rhythmic structure, which is then performed and recorded again using the resulting sound. The entire soundscape is comprised of processed acoustic guitars with a touch of percussion.

“Black Honey” is an intimate lullaby imagined in a busy airport that slowly grows in intensity and ends in a completely unexpected place with synthesizers and a surreal orchestra taking over. It is a composition for baritone guitar, orchestra, synthesizer and field recordings about loss of privacy, alienation and helplessness in an environment beyond control.

“a beguiling but ultimately enchanting piece of experimental acoustic guitar work that builds into terrifying / brutalist shapes by the end of the composition” Tome To The Weather Machine

“an expreme avant-jazz composiiton, with gradual build-up, filled with a healthy dose of experimentation and noise, ideal for an early era David Lynch, dystopian, main theme!” Last Day Deaf

Very interesting way to play the acoustic guitar and an even more intriguing type of production for this song! Wow!” Sef Emelin
